Founded in 1827 on 80 acres of land,
Danville, Illinois quickly became a major
industrial city because of its coal mines
and factories. Over 180 years later, the
city of Danville touts a population of
approximately 33,900 people. Danville is
home to two main institutions that offer
collegiate degrees, Lakeview College of
Nursing and Danville

Area Community College, as well as a
cosmetology school, Concept College of
Cosmetology Danville.

Lakeview College of Nursing has been
training and preparing nurses for over 100
years. The college, which sits on 75
acres, was established in 1894 and is a
private non-profit nursing college. It is
accredited by the The Higher Learning
Commission of the North Central
Association of Colleges and Schools and
offers a baccalaureate nursing program
through a cooperative agreement with
Eastern Illinois University. Approximately
278 students are enrolled at Lakeview
College of Nursing. A sister campus of the
college is located in Charleston,

The Concept College of Cosmetology
Danville (with a sister location in Urbana
Illinois) offers training in hair design
and color. Its 1,500 clock hour course
prepares students to become a skillful
cosmetologist and to be able to meet the
requirements of the Illinois Department of
Professional Regulations.
