Central Baptist College

Central Baptist College, or CBC, is a liberal arts school in Conway, Arkansas. CBC is private college that offers four-year degree programs. The school offers majors in business, behavioral science, general education, music, missions, science, and religion. Students can work toward earning either an associate’s degree or a bachelor’s degree.
“The school was founded in 1952 and its campus covers 15 acres. Of its 470 traditional students, 55% are male and 45% female. CBC also has more than 200 “non-traditional” PACE students.

Freshmen students are required to live on campus, though there are some exemptions. CBC divides each academic calendar by semesters, and offers activities outside of the regular curriculum, such as intramural sports, chorus, service opportunities and organizations, and student government. CBC’s upper level sports teams play in the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics and the National Christian College Athletics Association. For students attending full time, attendance at weekly chapel services is mandatory.

Hendrix College, referred to locally as just “Hendrix”, is located Conway, Arkansas and is private liberal arts college. Hendrix has an average of about 1,400 enrolled students, which at the present, represent fourteen countries and forty-three states. In 2011, the school was praised for being one of the top “up and coming” colleges by US News and World Report’s list of America’s best Colleges, and rated 71st nationwide in 2008. Forbes Magazine also rated it 81st among America’s best colleges in 2009.

Even though Hendrix College is affiliated with the United Methodist Church, the curriculum offered by the college is not religious and the student body at Hendrix is composed of people from all different faiths and backgrounds. Hendrix is a member of the Associated Colleges of the South.

Hendrix college offers both bachelor’s and master’s degree programs.


University of Central Arkansas

The University of Central Arkansas is state’s fourth largest higher education institution by total student enrollment. The school is well-know for its exceptional Physical Therapy, Occupational Therapy and Education programs. The school also houses four Residential Colleges along with the UCA Honors College.

UCA has more than 80 majors to choose from and is divided into six separate colleges;Business, Education, Fine Arts and Communications, Health and Behavioral Sciences, Natural Sciences and Mathematics, and Liberal Arts.

The university is well known for its groundbreaking Honors College which has been recognized nationally. The College’s trademarks include a prominent faculty, small classes, URGE and TAG grants for students, high student SAT and ACT scores, and superior rates of graduate and medical school admission. In fact, the university was described by Terrell Bell, the former U.S. Secretary of Education, as “an Ivy League education at a bargain basement price,” and the Carnegie Foundation claims it is “one of the most widely imitated programs in the country.”

In the 2006 U.S. News & World Report’s list of best colleges in the
South, the University of Central Arkansas was ranked 61 for academic excellence. This was the first time the University has been on the list and it was the only public university from Arkansas included in the category.

University of Central Arkansas has a total annual enrollment of roughly 11,000 students and provides bachelor’s, master’s and doctoral programs in an array of subject areas and discplines.
