Colorado Psychology Programs

College Degree Finder

Despite its small size, in comparison to states like California and Texas, Colorado is home to some very prestigious and highly reputable psychology schools. It is also one of the few places that offer specialized programs in the oft-overlooked field of sports psychology. In addition to sports psychology, other popular fields include forensic psychology, clinical psychology, and industrial-organizational psychology.

Most of Colorado’s top psychology schools are located in the states main city, Denver, and its surrounding suburbs. A few of Colorado’s top psychology schools include Colorado State University, in Fort Collins, University of Colorado at Boulder, and the University of Denver, in Denver. While not necessarily the most prestigious of Colorado’s psychology schools, the University of the Rockies in Colorado, Springs, offers one of the largest selections of psychology degrees of any school in the state.

Not only is Colorado a great place to study psychology, it’s a great place to practice psychology. Colorado has a strong economy, vibrant healthcare industry, and job prospects for qualified psychologists are good. The median annual wage for psychologists working in Colorado is roughly $90,000, which is substantially higher than the national average.

While some psychologists earn less than $70,000, it’s not uncommon for a psychologist practicing in a city like Denver to make north of $100,000 a year. However, before you can earn the big bucks, you’ll need to earn a doctorate in psychology from an accredited school and pass a state exam administered by the State Board of Psychologist Examiners (the agency that regulates the practice of psychology in Colorado).
