School Overview

Cleveland Community College (CCC) is a two-year community college located in the city of Cleveland, in the state of North Carolina. However, CCC didn’t start out as a community college. It was founded as an adult education and career training center in 1965–with its primary focus on nursing education. It also offered GED and related education courses for adults who had not yet earned a high school diploma.

In 1980, the institution began offering associate degrees, certificates and diplomas, at which point it was renamed Cleveland Community Colleges to reflect its new status as a tw-year, degree granting institution.

Today, CCC is regionally accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools of the Higher Learning Commission to award Associate of Art degrees, Association of Science degrees, certificates and diplomas in various academic fields and professional disciplines including Business, Communications, Computers, Construction Trades, Engineering, Health Sciences, Legal Studies, Mechanics, Cosmetology, and Criminal Justice. CCC also belongs to the North Carolina Community College System (NCCCS), which includes 58 community colleges and represents over 810,000 students.
