Clearwater is a city in Florida located on west coast of the Gulf of Mexico just northwest of St. Petersburg and west of Tampa. With a population of approximately 110,000 people, Clearwater is a medium size city, but substantially smaller than its two neighbors, Tampa and St. Petersburg. While technically Clearwater is located in the Clearwater metropolitan area, it is usually just referred to as the Tampa Bay Area.

The Tampa International Airport serves as the primary means of air travel into and out of the area. The main public transportation system is the Pinellas Suncoast Transit Authority (PSTA) bus service and a beach trolley. The PSTA bus service support 35 local troutes that cover the Tampa Bay area and the barrier islands. The service’s main hub is located in downtown Clearwater. There are plans to put in a new public transit system that will make getting around even easier, if you don’t have access to a vehicle.

Clearwater Christian College is the only four-year college that resides within the Clearwater city boundaries. However, several other colleges and universities including St. Petersburg College (in nearby St. Petersburg), Everest University (in Tampa) and Schiller International University (3 miles south in Largo) are located within a short driving distance from Clearwater. It is also home to Pinellas Technical Education Center.
