School Overview

The University of Houston-Clear Lake (UHCL), a state university, is a distinct and separate component school of the University of Houston System. There is a 524 acre campus in Pasadena and a satellite campus in Pearland.

Established in 1971, UHCL serves students through four schools and offers 40 bachelors, 44 masters, and one doctoral program. There is an enrollment of over 8,000 students and freshman and sophomore classes will begin in fall 2014. There’s over 50,000 alumni and more than 2,100 degrees awarded annually.

UHCL is regionally accredited by the Commission on Colleges of the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools (SACS). Howver, many of the university’s Schools and academic programs are individually accredited through other accrediting agencies such as the National Council for Accreditation of Teacher Education (NCATE), the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB), the American Chemical Society (ACS) and the American Association for Marriage and Family Therapy (AAMFT).
