Clarion University of Pennslyvania is one of 14 universities that belong to the Pennslyvania State System of Higher Education (PASSHE). As its name suggests, Clarion University is located in Clarion, PA, and has resided there since 1867. The school offers associate’s, bachelor’s, and master’s degrees as well as post master’s certificates.

The majority of Clarion’s students are female (65%) and are residents of Pennslyvania (96%). The remaing 4% come from across the United States and from 35 different countries. As of fall 2011, there were 5,895 undergraduates and 1,096 graduate students attending Clarion University.

In addition to its campus-based programs, the university offers students the opportunity to earn their degree online or via distance education. The university also maintains a satellite campus at West Penn Hospital in Pittsburgh, and a regional college, Venango College, in Oil City. A student who wants to earn a Master of Library Science degree could attend classes in person, in Philadelphia, at the Free Library’s Main branch or its other locations.
