School Overview
Central Michigan University, commonly referred to as “CMU”, is a public research university whose main campus resides in Mount Pleasant, Michigan. The university was established in 1892. With over 20,000 at its Mount Pleasant Campus and another 7,000 online students, CMU one of the largest public universities in nation and the state of Michigan, surpassed in size only by University of Michigan-Ann Arbor, Wayne State University, and Michigan State University.
CMU has over 60 educational facilities, campus and learning centers worldwide and offers bachelor’s, master’s, specialist and doctoral degree programs in over 200 fields of study and professional disciplines. CMU also offers several national renowned programs in teacher education, journalism, audiology, entrepreneurship, music, phsycian assisting and psychology. CMU is currently in the process of launching a College of Medicine which is scheduled to be completed in 2013.
CMU sponsores 7 men’s and 9 women’s sports and athletic teams that compete in the NCAA Division I Mid-American Conference. CMU is a fully accredited higher education institution.
