NOTICE: THIS UNIVERSITY IS CLOSED – Closure of Bethany University of the Assemblies of God On August 8, 2011 a Teach-out Plan to facilitate the closure of Bethany University was submitted to the Western Association of Schools and Colleges (WASC) and subsequently received approval on August 16, 2011.

Bethany University is a four-year private Christian university located in the city of Scotts Valley in Santa Cruz, California. Unfortunately, the university closed its doors in 2011. The university, which was established in 1919 as the Glad Tidings Bible Institute by a Pentecostal denomination, operated for nearly a century and was the oldest Christian college of its type up to 2011. During its life, the university also went by the names of Bethany Bible College and Bethany College.
