Bakersfield is a large city located in Kern County, California at the south end of the San Joaquin Valley. It is almost exactly half way between the cities of Fresno and Los Angeles. The city’s population is roughly 350,000, making it the 9th largest city in California. It is also one of the fastest growing cities in California. California State University Bakersfield (often abbreviated CSUB) is a public university that was founded in 196t. CSUB has a total enrollment of 7,500+ undergraduate and graduate students and offers bachelor’s and master’s degree programs in a variety of disciplines. The university offers majors in the area of visual and performing arts (4 majors), biological sciences, business administration, communications, education, English (2 majors), foreign language and literature, nursing (RN), history, liberal arts, land use planning, philosophy and religion, physical sciences (3 majors), psychology, public administration, criminal justice studies as well as social sciences (5 majors).
