Ringling College of Art and Design, formerly the Ringling School of Art and Design, is privately owned and operated college in Sarasota, Florida that is accredited to grant degrees by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools, as well as the National Association of Schools of Art. It was founded in 1931 as the art school branch of Florida Southern College. The art school broke away from Florida Southern College in 1933 at which time it established itself as an independent art school.
