The Art Institute of California Sacramento is one of 40 schools that makes up The Art Institutes system of educational institutions and one of eight locations within California. The Art Institutes is owned and operated by Education Management Corporations (EDMC) whose headquarters are located in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. The school offers career-oriented education programs in design, animation, media arts, fashion design, interior design, culinary management and culinary arts.

While EDMC, the school’s parent company was founded in 1962, The Art Institute of California Sacramento was launched in 2007. In 2006, the private equity investor Goldman Sachs purchased a 41% interest in EDMC.

The Art Institute of California Sacramento is accredited by the Accrediting Council for Independent Colleges and Schools (ACICS).
