The Art Institute of California Orange County is a for-profit contemporary arts and design university owned by Education Management Corporation (EDMC) in Santa Ana, California and operated by Argosy University (also owned by EDMC). Under Argosy University, the Art Institute is affiliated with the The Art Institutes nationwide system of 40 educational institutions. The Art Institute of California Orange County is composed of two applied-art schools, 13 individual art departments, The International Culinary School, a dormitory complex and the Fifty Forks restaurants. The Education Management Corporation, the mother company for The Art Institutes, was founded in 1962. In 2006, EDMC sold a 40% ownership interest to Gold Sachs.
