Arkansas State University (ASTATE, ASU, or "state") sits on top of Crowley's Ridge at Jonesboro, Arkansas. Its campus is nearly 800 acres and one of the largest in the state. This public university is the flagship campus for the Arkansas State University System (which is the state's second largest college system.) ASU is the second largest university in the state of Arkansas in terms of enrollment and the university has over 55,000 alumni.

Associate's, bachelor's and master's degree programs are available through ASU's Sciences and Mathematics, Nursing and Health Professions, Humanities and Social Sciences, Fine Arts, Engineering, Education, Communications, Business, and Agriculture colleges.

ASU first started offering master's degree programs in 1955. ASU offered its first doctoral degree in 1992 (in educational leadership). In 1997, it added the doctoral degree in environmental science to its list of programs. In 2001 the school launched a doctoral program in heritage studies and a biomedical sciences doctoral program followed in 2006. The school had its centennial year in 2009.
