School Overview

American River College (ARC) is a community college located outside of Sacramento, the state capital of California. ARC is one of the state’s largest community colleges, with an undergraduate and graduate student body of more than 35,000.

Many students pursuing four-year academic degrees begin their college careers at ARC and then transfer to the University of California, Davis or California State University, Sacramento. Other ARC students pursue vocational training in a wide array of fields, as well as continuing education programs, personal enrichment and various online learning programs.

American River College has gained national attention through the publication of the American River Review, the school’s own literary journal. Since its first edition in 1984, the review has been awarded the Gold Crown from the Columbia Scholastic Press Association and the National Peacemaker Award from the Associated Collegiate Press.
