School Overview

The American Jewish University (AJU), a jewish, non-denominational university, was first established as two separate education institutions, the Brandeis-Bardin Institute and University of Judaism. These two institutions were later merged to form the American Jewish University. The American Jewish University is located in Los Angeles, California.

With over 12,000 annually enrolled students, the Whizin Center for Continuing Education is the largest academic arm of the American Jewish University. The Whizin Center offers a large variety of non-degree, non-credit granting courses as well as a popular speaker series, featuring well-known figures such as Colin Powell, Tony Blair, and other diplomats and political leaders.

AJU offers a variety of undergraduate and graduate degree programs in subjects including Bioethics (pre-med), Communication, Business, Political Science, Arts & Advocacy, Psychology and Jewish Studies. Graduate level degrees and programs are offered through the David L. Lieber Graduate School, Fingerhut School of Education, and the Ziegler School of Rabbinic Studies. AJU is also home to the Sigi Ziering Institute: Exploring the Ethical and Religious Implications of the Holocaust and the Center for Israel Studies (CIS), two university sponsored “think tanks”.
