Albany is a mid-sized city located in the southwestern Georgian county of Dougherty. With a population of over 77,000, it is the eighth most populous city in Georgia. Albany is home to a number of large companies such as AT&T, Miller Brewing Company, and Procter and Gamble.
Additionally, Albany is home to Albany State University, a four-year public university that is a member of Georgia’s University System of Georgia. With an annual student enrollment of over 4,000, it is relatively small when compared to other, much larger Georgia universities such as Georgia State University and the Georgia Institute of Technology.
ASU, as it is commonly abbreviated, has four colleges from which it administers over 30 undergraduate degree options and six post-graduate degree options. U.S. News and World Report has ranked ASU as a 2nd tier institution on its Regional Universities (South) list.
