College Degree Finder

Alaska Vocational Technical Center (AVTEC) is a vocational school located in Seward, Alaska. Students at AVTEC develop job skills through extensive classroom instruction and real-world projects.

AVTEC offers generous scholarships to students requiring assistance. Federal loans and Pell grants are also available to most students. Veterans and minorities often qualify for tuition waivers.

Popular programs at AVTEC include culinary arts, practical nursing, plumbing, and welding. A maritime science academy is also located on campus. Students interested in working in the Alaskan fishing industry can receive the necessary training at this academy.

Students at AVTEC acquire practical experience by participating in real-world projects. For example, a student studying maritime science will learn how to operate a ship, while a nursing student will administer clinical medical treatments.

AVTEC offers many types of student support services, including job placement, peer tutoring, academic advising, and mental health counseling services.

Most students admitted to AVTEC are Alaskan residents, but when space is available some non-residents are admitted. Only students who are 18 or older and have a high school or general equivalency degree can attend AVTEC.
