University of Pikeville
The University of Pikeville, or UPike, (formerly Pikeville College) is a private four-year university located in Pikeville, Kentucky. The school was founded in 1889 by the Presbyterian Church and continues its affiliation with the church today. The university is currently part of a state-supported study (Bill 270) which aims to make the school part of Kentucky’s state university system.
UPike offers associate, bachelor's, and master’s degrees through six academic divisions and one medical college—the Kentucky College of Osteopathic Medicine. Campus life is vibrant with over 30 student organizations, intramural sports, spiritual life groups, and more. Total annual enrollment at Upike is about 2,000 students. The University's intercollegiate athletic teams, the Bears, participate in the Mid-South Conference and compete as members of the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics in the NAIA Division 1 level.
