Garland is a relatively large city (population of 230,000) located northeast of Dallas, situated almost entirely within Dallas County. It is the twelth largest city in Texas. In 2008, Garland was ranked on Money Magazine’s list of “Top 100 Places to Live”. Garland is home to several colleges and universities including Richland College and Amberton University, a fully accredited private four-year university that offers undergraduate and graduate degree programs.
