Exercise Physiology Colleges and Programs

This educational program focuses on the scientific study of the physiological processes involved in physical or motor activity, including response mechanisms, sensorimotor interactions, and the effects of response mechanisms, injury, and disability. This program typically includes in depth instruction in muscular and skeletal anatomy; fuel utilization; molecular and cellular basis of muscle contraction; neurophysiology of motor mechanics; fatigue and exhaustion; systemic physiological responses (respiration, endocrine secretions, blood flow, and others); physiology of specific exercises and activities; physiology of injury; muscle and body training; and the effects of disabilities and disease.
