Since its founding, Ashford University has been known by many names. Originally known as Mount St. Clare Academy in 1893, the University became a College in 1950 and has since then undergone many rebrandings. The University became known as Ashford University in March 2005.
The primary location of the school has always been Clinton, Iowa. Many buildings located at the physical campus date back to 1910. While Ashford has its physical campus located in Iowa, the majority of students enrolled are taking advantage of the University’s online programs. Ashford holds regional accreditation from the Western Association of Schools and Colleges.
Ashford University offers associate, bachelor’s, and master’s degrees in more than 50 disciplines, as well as 22 supplemental minors. There are four academic colleges within the University: the College of Education; the College of Liberal Arts; the College of Health, Human Services and Science; and the ForbesTM School of Business, which offers the majority of coursework online, and various master’s degree options.
